Risk Limiting Audit

The Lee County Board of Elections and Registration will conduct a mandatory risk-limiting audit of the votes cast in the November 5, 2024, General Election on November 15, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. in the Lee County Elections Office located at 100 Starksville Avenue North in Leesburg, Georgia. 2025 Occupational Tax Renewals

The Lee County Business License Department has begun the renewal process for 2025. Each application must include all occupations that require a state license or certification. All current business licenses expire on December 31, 2024.



Bridge Replacement Detour

There is a detour for the bridge located on CR3/Smithville Road at Muckaloochee Creek. The bridge is scheduled to be rebuilt by the Georgia Department of Transportation as part of their Bridge Replacements Project. Garbage Rate Increase

Tthe following rate increases were implemented by the Lee County Board of Commissioners on August 1, 2024. This rate increase is a pass-through increase from Express Disposal. The residential garbage rate increased from $23.00 per month to $24.00 per month. The cost for an additional residential cart increased from $12.75 to $13.75. Rate Increase for Magistrate Court Filing Fees

The Lee County Magistrate Court Filing Fees increased by $9.00 on July 1, 2024, due to two bills that increased their filing fees.



Rate Increase for Utilities Authority Customers

Effective July 1, 2024, the following rate increases were implemented by the Lee County Utilities Authority to operate a balanced budget for the fiscal year of July 2024 - June 2025. The base rate for all water and sewer types increased from $20 to $21. Water Access fees changed from $2,600 to $2,800. Sewer Access fees changed from $2,800 to $3,000. GDOT Liberty Expressway Press Release

The speed limit will drop and outside shoulders will close on a portion of US 82/State Route (SR) 520/Liberty Expressway as a contractor prepares to begin construction to extend Westover Boulevard into Lee County.
